DIY inspiration board

DIY INSPIRATION BOARD

Wednesday is here and my Pinterest feed is full of DIY inspirations. Although most of them is holiday related (I will leave this one for another post), I managed to find few interesting ones to share with you. Crafting, Sewing, Decorating... who does not love a good DIY project? Sometimes I just daydream of times where I could just quit my job and DIY all day long. And read. This DIY inspiration board contains ideas and objects that are not DIY per se but seem like something that could be done.

DYI inspiration fleece bag

DYI inspiration - black and white planter

DYI inspiration black leather (no)glove

DYI inspiration wall art

I think most of these are doable, I just need to decide which one to start first.

What is your oppinion on DYI? Are you passionate about doing something yourself, diving into craft and making it your own little project and piece of art?

DIY notebook

notebook DIY

Sometimes you just want to make something on your own, and you don`t want it to be made of a plain white paper. Since I am a total notebook psycho and could own a gazillion of them I decided that I needed one more. This one will be for a special project, of which you will read soon (so stay tuned!), made by my two little hands out of recycled paper. Ok, it has strange, unnecessary holes in it, but, I think it adds to its special character. Here is one easy diy notebook tutorial for you to try this November.

The making of is very easy. Find a bunch of papers you like and would use to make your own notebook, fold it in half, punch some holes and bind it all together. Easy peasy!

Can`t wait to share this special project with you.

I love reusing stuff, reinventing, recycling and I really enjoyed making this notebook. I hope you liked my little tutorial.

DIY inspiration - exposed zipper

~ ~

While browsing pinterest for the best "how to" regarding zippers I came across this cool video about exposed zippers. Polka dot zippers? Say what?!

Needless to say I fell in love with the designs, the idea and the lovely Gretchen herself. This is something I will SO try to DIY (that almost sounds like a rhyme, right?), I just need to get my hands on some funky zippers.

Talking about zippers, when I started drafting this post, alongside posting this video I took the liberty to see what is the general situation on zippers available. On the internet, of course. In this godforsaken wilderness of a country where I live, zippers are classic and not that creative. They come in different colors but that is it. Ok and different sizes but that is not the problem if you are on a hunt for a silvery glitter one or something with a pattern. Ebay here I come.

If you type int he obvious - polka dot zipper - you are in a lot of disappointment, because you get one big fat nothing when you hit the button.
Decorative zipper? No luck there.

Google, my friend.

So I found these and these but was not much impressed by any of them. Is this it? Is it that unusual to ask for a simple glitter/polka dot/maybe occasional star or a hart patterned zipper?

Guess so.

Etsy has some cute finds though. And that is about it. Very disappointing.
If anyone by any chance finds out where to buy these, please let me know. I will be for ever in you debt. Thank you.

DIY red circle skirt

~ ~

Just a little sneak preview of my newest project - DIY red circle skirt. I wanted a red flare, full circle skater skirt and to be honest, they are hard to find in stores. Nearly impossible. There was one in H&M but it was too short and did not quite embodied the "look" I was going for. And buying on line is not quite my cup of tea since I  had my share of bad choices of on line shopping, and 80% of purchased items end up to be the wrong size no matter the extensive measurements taken.

Preparing for this little DIY I scoured the web extensively and found quite a number of really, really good DIY blog posts. While I tried to do mine from A pair & a spair, I ended up doing the simpler version, without the zipper, just using the elastic waist band to make it fit.

In my first attempt I made two 5.5 cm pleats, front and back, but ended up with something funky in the middle of the back, from each side of the zipper - unwanted pleats. So, I ended up removing the pleats altogether and the zipper. It was a good idea, and the waistband gave the skirt "natural" pleats. YAY!

How I tailored the fabric? Easy-peasy. Just follow instructions from A pair & a spair and don`t forget to adjust to your own measurements.

Big thanks to lovely Geneva from A pair & a spair for great instructions and tons of resources.

If you would like to check out other great DIY resource on how to make a circle skirt you can always browse Pinterest, I found some great finds there.

This is it!

Stay tuned for my DIY red circle skirt related post with real, honest-to-god whole body outfit post of me wearing the skirt. Yeah, I know, these never happen. Like, never!

Until then you can check out this idea for my next project - tulle skirt. This one seems very simple,

the best I think, that I found so far.

I only need to buy tulle.

I`ve been thinking of doing the simple white one, but also something like this. Yes. Polka dot tulle.

Mine.

DIY inspo: Tartan pencil skirt by Mira Duma

~ ~

Got the fabric, here is the idea, what do you think?

Tartan skirts have made an amazing come back this season and when I saw this skirt I know I had to have it. Although I haven`t figured out the designer (please share the info if you know) but I did find matching tartan fabric in my moms stash! YAY!!!!

So this weekend I will be diy-ing this skirt and wearing it to work on Monday. Can`t wait. If only I could do this whole look like Mrs Duma (from LFW 2014) but its too cold.

Either way, this skirt is amazing and will go just great with opaque stockings and/or boots.

Literally can`t wait.

DIY newspaper and Eiffel tower curtains

Fabric is from eBay. Made by yours truly. I have more left for cute little cushins.
That was a great way to spend saturday evening.
I have another DIY ready to do, this one will be more fashionable. Let me just say - tartan and Mira Duma. Can`t wait!

Pinterest inspiration, a DIY must

~ ~

Collage is made by me, photo is from pinterest: image credit

This tulle skit is amazing, and a definite DIY inspiration. It should be an easy experiment, and the result is more than promising.

Looks amazing, right?

I am totally mesmerized by this simple yet chic beyond words ensemble.

It was impossible to find the (real) source of this photo, meaning the author itself, so my only option was to credit the pinner. All the links I found led to tumblrs and blogs.
All I know that this photograph was taken at Paris fashion week.

If by any chance someone does know or finds out the origin, please do tell.
